Deadlines and Implementation Period of the EUDR
EUDR deadlines for companies: December 30, 2025, and June 30, 2026.
The deadlines and implementation period of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) are subject to current regulations specifically tailored to the needs of companies. As of December 30, 2025, large and medium-sized companies are required to fully comply with the EUDR requirements. Very small and small enterprises have an extended deadline until June 30, 2026. This extension was decided due to technical delays in the digital submission of due diligence statements, and to provide planning security for the affected companies.
The original schedule planned to implement the EUDR by the end of 2024; however, identified challenges necessitated adjustments to the implementation timeline. It is important to note that the deadline extension only affects the schedule and not the substantive requirements of the regulation. The EUDR will become legally binding after formal acceptance by the relevant EU bodies. During the transitional phase until full implementation, the competent authorities will initially play an advisory role to assist companies in complying with the regulations.
Companies are encouraged to transition their supply chains to deforestation-free products early and to fulfill their due diligence obligations, including the timely digital submission of declarations in the EU system TRACES NT. These measures are necessary to successfully implement the EUDR and achieve the environmental policy objectives of the regulation.
